President Barack Obama has announced his intention to appoint Regina Stanback Stroud, president of Skyline College in San Bruno, to the President’s Advisory Council on Financial Capability for Young Americans.
The council, established in June 2013, advises Obama and the Secretary of the Treasury on how to build the financial capability of young people at an early stage of their lives in schools, families, communities, the workplace and through the use of technology. It is hoped that these recommendations will contribute to the nation’s future financial stability and increase upward economic mobility, according to a press release.
Stanback Stroud has been president of Skyline College since 2011 and previously served as vice president from 2001 to 2011. From 1997 to 2001, she was the dean of workforce and economic development at Mission College in Santa Clara.
