A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Welcome to the Western Region Council on Black American Affairs (WRCBAA). It is an honor to serve as President of an organization committed to leadership, advocacy, professional development, student success, and educational equity across our region. Our work is rooted in a shared commitment to strengthening opportunities for Black students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners throughout higher education.
As we move forward, WRCBAA remains focused on building meaningful connections, supporting emerging leaders, and creating spaces where our members can collaborate, grow, and lead with purpose. The challenges facing higher education require courage, innovation, and collective action. Together, we will continue to elevate voices, share resources, mentor one another, and advocate for practices that promote access, belonging, retention, and completion.
This year, I invite every member to become actively engaged in the work of the region. Whether through conferences, committees, professional learning, student-centered initiatives, or community partnerships, your participation strengthens our impact. WRCBAA is more than a professional organization; it is a network of dedicated leaders who understand the importance of service, representation, and transformation.
I am deeply grateful for the leaders who have paved the way and for the members who continue to carry this mission forward. As President, I am committed to listening, collaborating, and advancing the goals of our region with transparency and purpose.
Thank you for your continued support, your leadership, and your dedication to the success of our students and communities. I look forward to the work ahead and to all that we will accomplish together.
With appreciation,
Dr. Michelle Traveler
