Dr. William H. Crawford III serves as the Vice President for Student Affairs at Chandler-Gilbert Community College, one of the Maricopa Community Colleges. Bill Crawford, as he is commonly known, was formerly the Dean of Career and Technical Education at CGCC and began his employment at Chandler-Gilbert in July 2003 as an Associate Dean – progressing to Senior Associate Dean. Additionally, Vice President Crawford’s experience in higher education includes serving as Faculty Chair of Mesa Community College’s Administration of Justice Studies Department, ten years as a residential faculty member, and seven years as adjunct faculty.
Prior to his employment with Maricopa Community Colleges, Bill Crawford was employed with the Phoenix Police Department, where he held numerous leadership positions and served with distinction for over twenty three years.
Bill is proud of the fact that he is a product of the Maricopa Community Colleges system and speaks often to students, parents and community leaders about its impact and influence on his life. He is passionate about and dedicated to student success and the mission of the community college system in responding to the needs of our communities and its residents.
Dr. Crawford is actively engaged in both professional and community organizations. He serves or has served on many non-profit organizations’ board of directors including the City of Chandler Merit System Board, Si Se Puede Foundation, Chandler Men of Action, East Valley Boys & Girls Clubs, East Valley NAACP, Salvation Army, and Community Bridges Board of Directors. He is honored to serve as the Immediate Past President of the National Council on Black American Affairs’ (NCBAA) Board of Directors, an affiliate council of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC).
William Crawford holds both Doctorate and Master of Education degrees from Northern Arizona University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University.
